About MiCT

MiCT (Media in Cooperation and Transition) is a German nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening independent media in crisis and conflict regions worldwide. In Sub-Saharan Africa, we work closely with journalists, influencers, radio stations, and civil society organizations across East and West Africa. Our structure is decentralized: a management team based in Berlin collaborates with local partners and experts in our project countries. Our work is funded by leading institutions including GIZ, the German Federal Foreign Office, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), UNDP, UNESCO, and other international donors.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and expand our activities in Sub-Saharan Africa. In this role, you will be responsible for developing new projects, managing existing programs, and building relationships with donors and partners across the region.

Required Qualifications

Regional Expertise
In-depth knowledge of the political landscape and development policy contexts in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Project Development
Proven experience in designing international development projects in Africa, including proposal writing and participation in tender processes. Demonstrated ability to proactively acquire funding from German and/or international donors.

Project Management
Experience in the administrative and financial management of grant-funded projects with a minimum volume of €200,000—including budget oversight, procurement procedures, and preparation of financial reports. Track record of leading international teams.

Language Skills
Fluent English, both written and spoken, at a professional/negotiation level.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Proficiency in German, French, and/or Arabic
  • Experience working with media outlets and journalists in Africa
