Advisor Anticipatory Action*

Your responsibilities

  • Support for partner organizations to develop community-led, context appropriate and long lasting anticipatory AA mechanisms
  • Serving as focal point between project teams of partner organizations, PMU & TAHAT as well as the WAHAFA and broader AHA network
  • Driving the scale-up and further development of WHH’s anticipatory approaches for multiple hazards and existing WAHAFA partners and AAPs
  • Overseeing the feasibility and capacity of partner organizations to implement AHA in participating project regions for specific hazards
  • Facilitating onboarding and supporting workshops and learning exchanges for partner organizations and other stakeholders
  • Ensuring institutionalization, mainstreaming and country ownership of existing AAPs
  • Assuring state-of-the-art approaches to develop AA mechanisms, including remaining on top of technical, scientific, ethical, and programmatic debates around Anticipatory Action
  • Support the coordination of the WAHAFA Build application and the AAP validation process with WAHAFA partners and interested INGOs, facilitating and coordinating the feedback process of concept notes and applications
  • Support the coordination TAHAT involvement in the application and Build process
  • Representing WAHAFA/WHH in external fora, working groups, and networks related to AA, localization, and capacity sharing

Your profile

  • A university degree in a relevant field like social science, humanitarian action, disaster risk management, geography or similar
  • At least three to five years of professional experience in (anticipatory) humanitarian action
  • Experience in development of anticipatory action plans, conducting vulnerability assessments, and applying participatory methods
  • Experience in the further development and localization of forecasting and anticipation methods for weather-related and non-weather-related hazards
  • You recognize the growing value of data in your field and are eager to build your awareness and skills to incorporate data-informed approaches into your work.
  • Willingness to work in countries where Welthungerhilfe or program partners are implementing or supporting anticipatory action projects
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel to project countries
  • Very good English and French language skills
